Funeral or Memorial Services

For hundreds of years the Great Highland Bagpipe has been a staple at Celtic funerals, to a point where the Bagpipe has become synonymous with the passing of a loved one. The intent of the Bagpipes is to provide music to evoke emotion at all movements of the casket or urn. We are consistently prepared for any memorial or celebration of life as well as specializing in Military honors.

At a Church or Memorial Hall  

• Play outside as the funeral procession arrives, as the casket or urn is taken into church or hall and while guests enter, or simply as a prelude while guests arrive.
• Bagpiper can play as part of the processional, client must check with pastor prior to making this arrangement.
• Play as casket or urn crosses the threshold and is taken to hearse continuing as guests exit.

Graveside or Internment

• Piper performs as guests gather at the cemetery, graveside or internment.
• Piper performs a final farewell tune with a walk away, typically 'Amazing Grace' following the graveside benediction. Other tunes are also available if 'Amazing Grace' is not desired. 

 Tune suggestions ~ Amazing Grace is perhaps the best known, and most popular, tune performed on the Great Highland Bagpipe.  However, there is a vast repertoire of appropriate music for funeral services.  Slow Airs and Laments are particularly suited for funeral and memorial services, as well as Piobreachd, considered the classical music of bagpipes.

Many other special requests for music can usually be accommodated.  However, it must be noted that the Bagpipe is not a fully chromatic instrument.  A highly qualified professional musician should inform a family if their musical request may sound different than they might expect due to this.  However, all requests should and can be accommodated whenever possible. The individual needs of a family should always be of utmost concern.
